    [RESOLVED] Services Notifications

    Hello all,

    First of all, I would like to thank you for your good work. Shinken is really great.
    But I have some questions with the notifications because I really can't make it work properly.
    I have a Debian Squeeze and the new version of Shinken (0. 8 )

    My client is a Windows Xp with NSClient. When my host is up. It work properly I have the memory, CPU, etc...
    When my host is down (I shut him down).I have notification for all the services and I have each notification for each service every minutes. I tried differents things. First I have write all check period and notification intervall directly in the .cfg of my client and tried differents times and interval.
    After I have changed the parameters of the template.cfg. But every things I tried, I have always one mail per minutes and per services. Is it to possible to have only one email when the host is down and not one every minutes.

    This is my configuration :

    Here is my host (/etc/shinken/hosts/test.cfg) :

    Code:
    define host{
        host_name       NEO-L030
        alias         NEO-L030
        use           generic-host
        address        192.168.21.32
        hostgroups           DMZ
    }

    Here is my services (in /etc/shinken/services/nt.cfg)
    Code:
    define service{
      use     generic-service
      host_name      NEO-L030
      service_description Explorer
      check_command    check_nt!PROCSTATE!-d SHOWALL -l Explorer.exe
      }

    define service{
      use     generic-service
      host_name      NEO-L030
      service_description CPU Load
      check_command    check_nt!CPULOAD!-l 5,80,90
      }

    and here is my templates.cfg

    Code:
    # Generic service definition template - This is NOT a real service, just a template!
    define service{
        name generic-service ; The 'name' of this service template
        active_checks_enabled 1 ; Active service checks are enabled
        passive_checks_enabled     1            ; Passive service checks are enabled/accepted

        # Check part
        # By default, there is no check_command here
        check_interval 5 ; Check the service every 5 minutes in normal state
        retry_interval 1 ; Re-check the service every one minutes until a hard state can be determined
        max_check_attempts 2 ; Re-check the service up to 3 times in order to determine its final (hard) state
        check_period 24x7 ; The service can be checked at any time of the day

        # Notification part
        notifications_enabled      1            ; Service notifications are enabled
        notification_options w,u,c,r ; Send notifications about warning, unknown, critical, and recovery events
        notification_interval      3600            ; Re-notify about service problems every hour
        notification_period       24x7
        # If the contacts and contact_groups options are not set, it will notify host contacts instead
        # contact_groups         admins

        # Advanced options. Change with care
        #event_handler_enabled      1
        # event_handler         super_event_kill_everyone!DIE
        flap_detection_enabled     1            ; Flap detection is enabled
        check_freshness         0
        freshness_threshold       3600
        #stalking_options        w,c
        obsess_over_service       0
        #escalations          ToLevel2
        process_perf_data 1 ; Process perf data, like for PNP
        is_volatile 0 ; for log monitoring. See doc for more info about it

        register            0
        }

    I tried many things to change the notifications interval but nothing work properly :/

    Please [s]ObiWan Kenobi[/s] you are my only hope :'(

    PS : is there a possibility clients appeared by hostgroups in the Shinken UI like in Thruck ?

    Re: Services Notifications

    Hi,

    seems strange, very strange. Is the host maked "down" and you got notification for this one?

    Are you sure it's the last 0.8 version? it sounds like a bug we got in one of the last 0.6 branch.

    Re: Services Notifications

    Yes I have notification for the host every hour when he is down and just one notification not one every minutes.

    I'm not sure is related but If it can help you I use ssmtp to send mail.
    And yes I'm sure I have the 0.8 version (if I haven't take the good one I wouldn't have the new Shinken UI ^^ ).

    Re: Services Notifications

    So if I understand it, you got :
    * host down notification once an hour
    * AND services notifications too?

    Re: Services Notifications

    Can you show me your schedulerd.log file? (only for this host and service alert of course).

    Re: Services Notifications

    ok I realy think the scheduler is broken and when he read 2, sometimes it's two minutes sometimes it's two seconds.
    I thought it was a time problem but it does'nt seems to be.

    Do you use a retention plugin for your scheduler?
