    Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
    OMD 0.54

    Hello everybody

I set up an test environment with an shinken installation.

so of course i want to use the discovery function also but sth. doesn't work

    it comes the following error:

    Code:
No host configuration available, I bail out
    Generating ESX-host-IO {'service_description': u'ESX-host-IO', u'use': u'generic-service', u'check_command': u'check_esx_host!io', 'host_name': ''}

Re: Bail out error during the discovery check

    Hello again

I made a mistake I ve fortgotten to install the VI perl toolkit

    So the situation changed

No it comes the following error:

    Code:
I'm launching vsphere with a 3600 seconds timeout
    vsphere Check 0 status:done command:/lib/shinken/libexec/vmware_discovery_runner.py -V -u -p -r "lower|nofqdn"
    Error on run
Got Raw disco data /bin/sh: /lib/shinken/libexec/vmware_discovery_runner.py: not found

    root@ubuntu:~# /omd/sites/omd54/lib/shinken/libexec/vmware_discovery_runner.py
    Usage: vmware_discovery_runner.py [options]
I think it has sth. to do with variables and their paths which belongs to.

so here is the resource file:

    Code:
    ############################################
    # OMD settings, please use them to make your config
    # portable, but dont change them
    $USER1$=/omd/sites/omd54/lib/nagios/plugins
    $USER2$=/omd/sites/omd54/local/lib/nagios/plugins
    $USER3$=omd54
    $USER4$=/omd/sites/omd54
    ############################################
    # set your own macros here:
    #$USER5$=...
    $VCENTER$=xxxxxxxxxxx
    $VCENTERLOGIN$=xxxxxxx
    $VCENTERPASSWORD$=xxxxxxxxxx

Re: Bail out error during the discovery check

    Hi,

bailout is when there is no host configuration in the loop (so the service will apply on an unknown host). This behavior was changed since the 1.0.1 (now there is no more services, only host tags).

You can try to launch nmap AND vmware in the same launch, with the -w option.

    Hello naparuba

What did you mean with the -w option
the help says that the -w parameter is for overwriting the file #

    Code:
-w, --overwrite Allow overwithing xisting file (disabled by default)
    best regards john

Yes, it will write the host file even if it exists
