    Problem with bp_rule

    Hi
    I've several branch offices connected to central with double DSL/cable WAN lines, from 2 different ISP's
    Foreach office, I've defined hosts officeX-isp1, officeX-isp2, and other host named wan-officeX for overall state of office.
    I want host "wan-officeX" to be
    - ok (green) when 2 lines are ok
    - warning (yellow) when 1 line is down an other is up
    - critical (red) when 2 lines are out..
    So I set up these hosts (looking at http://www.shinken-monitoring.org/wi...les_in_shinken, "Manage degraded status" section) as follows:
    define host {
    host_name wan-officeX
    use Wan-common
    check_command bp_rule!(2,1,2offficeX-isp1 | officeX-isp2)
    }

    but when one single line is out, overall object remains green (ok), not changes to warning...
    somethin wrong???

    thanks

    Hi,

    An host do not have a warning, it's up or down only. so here the warning is an ok in fact. You can set a service for this instead but it's true it's not as efficient as an host
    No direct support by personal message. Please open a thread so everyone can see the solution

    The bp_rule documentation should be updated with this information.

    As it is a subtility that is often lost.

    Cheers,

    X

    So (if I understand you).. hosts are not at warning state so my host definition is useless..

    I will rewrite as services and try....

    thanks!!!

    some nagios doku:
    http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/hostchecks.html

    Hosts that are checked can be in one of three different states:

    UP
    DOWN
    UNREACHABLE

    Added a note to the business rule configuration page about hosts status in the wiki.

    So future users will not hit this issue in the dark. :-)
