Did that - same result. I didn't actually build from source or anything, just extracted and run it:

    pete@pete-Latitude-E6510:~$ cd temp/naparuba-shinken-eb5b10a/contrib/alternative-installation/shinken-install/
    pete@pete-Latitude-E6510:~/temp/naparuba-shinken-eb5b10a/contrib/alternative-installation/shinken-install$ sudo ./shinken.sh -i
    [sudo] password for pete:

seems that your computer does not have access to internet
this is a requirement for resolving and install shinken dependencies

Re: Can't get results from Auto-discovery in version 0.8.1

    Hi,

I can assure you I do have access to the internet - I can wget that first URL fine. Note that I am behind a proxy and the network settings are correct "system wide".

Is the script using apt-get? When I try (after an "update&quot I get a different sort of error I think:

    pete@pete-Latitude-E6510:~$ sudo apt-get install paramiko
    [sudo] password for pete:
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package paramiko

    Thanks,
    The Captn

OK, found out that it's easy_install that's the problem, solution is here http://superuser.com/questions/25881...-through-proxy

So, sudo -i and exporting the proxy env variable was the answer.

Install running now, will post with more results.

    Thanks, The Captn

Here is the output from the script:

And from the py script it seems to be running fine. Actually it could just have been the "$" at the end of the env variable? I took that off the command line and that seems to have done the trick...

Thanks for all the help, The Captn

ouch i think that easy-install does not work well with proxy. and yes the script is using apt-get but it should be better to use aptitude instead ?

i don't have a proxy here to test so i have to create one and test

    stay tuned ;-)

    Hi,

I don't think that using aptitude is better. From what I remember, its bad to mix them. The user may decide no?

yup just read that aptitude does dependency remove when removing a package :. This could result in unwanted removal.
