    Problems with host/service escalations

    Doesn't appear to work at all. Regular notifications go out for host/service problems, but with the following, nothing at all goes out for the escalation email contacts.

    What we want to do is for a specific hostgroup add additional contacts. I.E. for all hosts we have admins as the contact, but for the hostgroup A-hosts, we want to add AlertGroup.
    If there's a better way to do this, let me know.

    define hostescalation{
    host_group A-hosts
    first_notification 1
    last_notification 0
    notification_interval 60
    contact_groups AlertGroup
    escalation_period 24x7
    escalation_options d,u,r
    }
    define serviceescalation{
    service_description *
    host_group A-hosts
    first_notification 1
    last_notification 0
    notification_interval 60
    contact_groups AlertGroup
    escalation_period 24x7
    escalation_options u,c,r
    }

    define contact{
    use generic-contact
    contact_name Alert
    email alert@redacted.com
    password password
    is_admin 0
    }

    define contactgroup{
    contactgroup_name AlertGroup
    alias alert
    members Alert
    }

    Ok, trying the regular escalation and that works.

    What am I doing wrong with the host/service escalations??

    define host{
    use linux
    host_name jesstest.infra.dfw
    contact_groups jesstest
    notification_interval 5
    escalations To_level_2

    }

    define hostgroup {
    hostgroup_name jesstest-hosts
    alias jesstest-hosts
    members jesstest.infra.dfw
    }

    define hostescalation{
    host_group jesstest-hosts
    first_notification 1
    last_notification 0
    notification_interval 5
    contacts Alert
    }

    define escalation{
    escalation_name To_level_2
    first_notification 1
    last_notification 0
    # first_notification_time 1
    # last_notification_time 240
    notification_interval 1
    contacts Alert
    }

    it works only with "escalation" applied to the host, I can't get hostescalation or serviceescalation to work.

    I am having the exact same issue and I am using shinken 1.4. I would like to escalate notifications like described here -> https://shinken.readthedocs.org/en/l...s-on-same-host

    The serviceescalation works when I use a read service_description instead of a wildcard '*'.
